 Food Security: Reshape

One of the dire realities experienced during the pandemic is food insecurity. As a home gardener myself, during lockdown I was inspired by the increase in attention and attraction towards sustainable gardening, local farming practices and the revival of food security for Hawai’i.

Learning ‘aina-based practices from local farmers and gardeners is a crucial part of moving forward as a self-sustaining community. But their many insights extend beyond the Hawaiian archipelago, and their determination and hope for change– the common thread between each farmer– expands to a global level.

Through the AR overlay of these artworks, you can hear the personal stories of these local innovators and their vision for a sustainable future for Hawai’i. Highlighting the hard work of these growers was not only inspiring, but our way of moving toward self-sustaining communities.
