About

Created by celebrated multi-media artist Taiji Terasaki, in collaboration with the Japanese American National Museum, TRANSCENDIENTS will serve as tribute to the heroes from the arts, inter-faith, refugee, LGBTQ communities and beyond who fought for democracy back then, and continue the fight to today. Weaving a narrative of struggle and hard-won justice through the past to the present, attendees will walk away with a glimpse into the bright future we're all fighting for. Through photos, projections on vapor, lenticular structures and fully immersive installations, the exhibition will transport audiences through history and space, into the concentration camps from the 1940s, and the sites of current day human rights atrocities.

TRANSCENDIENTS: Heroes At Borders was exhibited at JANM from April 16 to May 16, 2021.
