Amani Institute, Democratic Republic of the Congo
Joseph lives in North Kivu, in a country already dealing with war, deadly diseases like Ebola and measles, and now COVID-19. He leads the Institute, which is a socio- cultural movement of youth volunteers. He runs COVID-19 awareness campaigns in vulnerable, remote communities, producing radio broadcasts, using megaphones, and posting printed posters. In a fraught political environment, the Institute stresses solidarity and non-violence in communities already living in deplorable conditions.
