Tipping Point, Dinner Plate Jellyfish
The dinner plate jellyfish (Solmissus) are often seen swimming with tentacles pointing upward. Dinner plate jellyfish can be found in deep sea, mid-water (700m-1000m) and can grow to be 20 cm in diameter. Dinner plate jellyfish actively hunt for their prey. They feed on soft bodied prey such as gelatinous zooplankton, including salps and doliolids, ctenophores, jellyfish, and copepods.
