Day 03: Kevin Heyse

When Kevin learned about the horrible mask shortage from his sister, who is a nurse, he began researching masks that could be made with a 3D printer. Though still required to wear her paper mask, she started wearing her 3D-printed mask underneath and helped distribute extra masks to co-workers.

After buying a second printer, Kevin set up a Facebook fundraiser so he could continue making masks. The crowdfunding has allowed him to make and distribute masks at no cost to people who need them and has created safer masks for healthcare workers.
