Day 07: Tim Cottrell

Head of School, ‘Iolani School

Dr. Cottrell is spearheading community work. He turned this K–12 school’s design lab into a factory to make face shields as soon as the pandemic hit Hawai‘I. Faculty and staff continue to create face shields for local healthcare workers and have filled orders for hospitals in New York, New Jersey, California, and other parts of the country. As of April 12, they have made nearly 5,000 shields and plan to make thousands more.
